This work examines how language structures visibility and belonging. Two curtains—embroidered with the words Fluency and Non-Native—open and close in quiet alternation. The movement turns the everyday act of drawing a curtain into a rhythm of inclusion and exclusion, where language operates as both barrier and passage.

Each word exposes its own contradiction: Fluency implies mastery and transparency, while Non-Native marks distance and difference. As the curtains move, the two terms exchange places, suggesting that linguistic identity is never fixed but constantly negotiated through repetition and gesture.

Through this subtle choreography, the work reflects on how language performs social boundaries—revealing, concealing, and continually remaking what is seen.
