QO is a collective of wayfarers and itinerants.
We share a common experience of rootlessness. Where do you show your work when you are in flux? In precarity? The white cube gives breathing space to art, but it also hems it in. If our lives are full of motion, how do we give that same space to our work?Where do you show your work when you work on unknown ground?The abode of the nomad is not on the ground. It is in the sky. It is the sky that the vagabond looks to every night. The sky that orients. That is compass, storyteller, companion.When sky becomes the familiar ground, it becomes a material as solid and stable as earth, or clay. The sky becomes as familiar as the white walls of the gallery: expanding past their edges.This is an evening of gallery walls the shape of horizons.

‘As if nothing happened’ is a single-channel video work that constructed with collected footage while looking up the sky daily.
Staring at the sky brings the nostalgia for my childhood and reminds me of how far away I am from home physically and mentally, but It also brings the realization that there’re more airplanes in the sky than there are birds.

QO는 뿌리 없이 떠도는 방랑자와 떠돌이들의 집단으로, 유동적이고 불안정한 환경 속에서 공통된 경험을 나눕니다. 우리는 ‘화이트 큐브’가 예술에 숨 쉴 공간을 제공함과 동시에 그 한계를 드러낸다는 모순을 인식합니다. 끊임없이 움직이는 우리의 삶은 정적이고 견고한 전시장에 갇히기 어려우며, 따라서 작업을 전시할 때도 비슷한 유연성과 확장성을 고민해야 합니다.

유목민이 매일 밤 하늘을 바라보듯, 우리는 신뢰할 수 있는 ‘터’ 대신에 하늘을 나침반이자 이야기꾼, 동반자로 삼습니다. 익숙해진 하늘은 마치 흙이나 점토처럼 단단한 재료가 되어, 갤러리의 흰 벽과 같은 익숙함을 지닌 채 그 경계를 넘어 확장됩니다. 이로써 우리는 ‘수평선으로 펼쳐진 저녁의 갤러리 벽’을 상상하며, 미지의 땅에서도 작업이 자연스럽게 호흡할 수 있는 전시 공간을 모색합니다.

‘아무 일도 없었던 것처럼’은 매일 같은 시간에 하늘을 올려다보며 기록한 영상을 엮은 단채널 비디오 작업입니다. 파랗게 기운 저녁 하늘은 어린 시절 향수를 불러일으키고, 동시에 육체적·정신적으로 고향에서 얼마나 멀리 떨어져 있는지를 일깨워 줍니다. 그리고 그 하늘 위를 가로지르는 비행기의 꼬리 여럿이 새보다 더 많이 비행한다는 사실이, 우리가 바라보는 하늘의 의미를 다시금 질문하게 만듭니다.

QO est un collectif de voyageurs et d'itinérants. Nous partageons une expérience commune de déracinement. Où exposer son travail quand on est en mouvement? Dans la précarité? Le cube blanc donne de l’espace à l’art pour respirer, mais il peut aussi le restreindre. Si nos vies sont faites de mouvement, comment donner le même espace à notre travail? Où exposer notre œuvre lorsque nous travaillons sur un sol inconnu?

Le foyer du nomade n'est pas sur la terre, mais dans le ciel. C’est vers le ciel que le vagabond se tourne chaque nuit. Ce ciel oriente, sert de boussole, de conteur, de compagnon. Lorsque le ciel devient un sol familier, il devient un matériau aussi solide et stable que la terre ou l’argile. Le ciel devient aussi familier que les murs blancs de la galerie : il s’étend au-delà de leurs limites. C’est une soirée où les murs de la galerie prennent la forme des horizons.

‘Comme si de rien n'était’ est une vidéo monocanal construite à partir d’images collectées chaque jour en levant les yeux vers le ciel. Regarder le ciel éveille une nostalgie de mon enfance et me rappelle combien je suis loin de chez moi, physiquement et mentalement. Mais cela me fait aussi réaliser qu'il y a plus d'avions dans le ciel que d'oiseaux.
