Jin Heewoong (b. 1985, Korea) is a Korean interdisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. His practice explores how ordinary, often overlooked objects—found materials, ready-mades, and industrial fragments—can be recontextualized through systems of arrangement, revealing hidden aesthetic and social potential. By generating formal and conceptual tension through order and disorder, his installations activate the inherent histories and material languages of their components.
More recently, his work has expanded into video, incorporating personal writing, observational footage, and performative gestures. These moving image works articulate the subtle, often ambivalent experiences of migration, cultural displacement, and linguistic negotiation.
Jin holds a BFA and MFA in Painting from Cheongju University and is currently completing his MFA in Sculpture at Concordia University. His work has been presented at Dazibao (2024), Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery (SIGHTINGS 39, 2023; IGNITION, 2022), Centre MAI (2023), Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto (2022), Peripheral Hours, Montreal (2019), Cheongju International Craft Biennale (2017), and the Real DMZ Project at Art Sonje Center (2015).
